Family photography is a wonderful experience that captures genuine emotion, connection, and is a joyful experience. Whether it’s playful giggles, warm cuddles, or quiet in-between moments, every session is a chance to create something meaningful and authentic. It’s about freezing those fleeting, everyday moments that define your family. The laughter, the love, and the chaos in between. Each session is relaxed, fun, and authentic, designed to reflect your unique story. The result is more than just beautiful photos, it’s a timeless collection of memories that become treasured keepsakes that you will cherish for years to come.

Family Photography FAQs

Where are sessions held?

Sessions can take place in a beautiful outdoor location, in the comfort of your own home, or at my home studio in Seven Hills, NSW. I also travel across Greater Sydney region, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, and; as well as Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Couth Coast regions; I am happy to go further when needed.

The best light for outdoor sessions is during the early morning or late afternoon to sunset, when the light is soft and golden. These times create a warm, natural glow and help everyone feel relaxed. For indoor or studio sessions, we’ll work around your family’s routine and the best available light. We will always work with your routine and the look and feel you are after for your portraits.

Choose outfits that feel like you; comfortable, simple, and timeless. Neutral, earthy, or soft pastel tones photograph beautifully and allow your connection to take centre stage. Avoid bold logos and busy patterns. I’m always happy to offer styling advice and inspiration to help you plan your family’s look.

To ensure your preferred date, it’s best to book 4–6 weeks in advance, especially during spring and autumn. This gives us time to plan your location, wardrobe, and any special touches that make your session unique.

Most family sessions run for about 45–60 minutes, depending on your family size, location, and the flow of the session. There’s no rush, I work at a relaxed pace to capture those authentic, joyful moments as they naturally unfold. Extended family sessions can take longer.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll simply reschedule to another suitable day. Overcast skies can be beautiful for photos, but if it’s raining heavily or too windy, I’ll work with you to find a new time that suits everyone.

Absolutely! Pets are part of the family and always welcome. Let me know beforehand so we can choose a location that suits everyone, furry friends included.

Yes, extended family sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate multi-generational connections and create lasting memories together. Whether it’s grandparents, cousins, or the whole family, we can capture a mix of group photos and individual family moments. Extended family sessions may require additional time, so please mention this when booking to ensure we plan accordingly.
